One knot at a time.



These weavers typically tie 9000 knots per day.   Here you can see the many colors of yarn used in this rug.



This is the shearing process. You can see the differences in areas with just a coarse shear and this finer shearing.



The washing process starts with an over night soak with multiple washes to follow.



Nothing better than the sun to dry the rugs after washing.



One finishing process may be carving.   Here the wool is carved leaving silk raised.



Finishing the fringe includes weaving a small kilim (flat weave), part for decoration, part for strength.



A detailed clean up of small imperfections can happen along with the fringe finishing.
(This lady smiled but my host laughed loudly when I commented that also in India it is the women who clean up after the men.)
