My host, Mr. Singh, sent his car and driver for me. He doesn't speak much English but
he sure can get thru this insane traffic!

The Hall of Mirrors was built to honor the Queen.
It has hundreds of thousands of
convex mirrors that sparkle like stars from night time lights.
The Queen said, "You have given me the stars but where is the moon?" And the Maharaja
replied, "You are the moon."

The dancing court. The Maharaja could sit in the shade to watch dancing performed
for him in this courtyard.
On the hill behind is the Amber Fort. The lady walking by
gave me quite a dirty look when she realized I was photographing her.
The guide shooed her on. It
seems she wanted to be paid to be photographed.
It was here that the staff of the Palace lived.
Quarters for all 12 wives were on the right here. The 3 small towers were for the
eunichs who guarded them.
In the center is a small audience hall which was exculsively for the wives to petition the king.

The Queen's dining room.

Over the entrance to each of the 12 rooms, both paintings and carvings are, of course done by hand.

From the Hall of Audiences, looking at the Queen's Entrance or entrance to the ladies' quarters.
Note the small windows. The one in the middle is the Queen's Window where she is said
to have sat watching for the King (Maharaja) to return. Check the designs in the grate.
No vehicles allowed up the front entrance.

The man made lake has water only from rain, no creek or river. It's sad that the water level is so low
since this was taken
only a month after the monsoon season.
